Early Bird Discount: Receive a free hour with the purchase of three hours at regular price. Rental must begin before 8:30AM and return no later than 12:30PM. This offer is only available on Saturday and Sunday.

Reservation Policy: Reservations are recommended on all boats at Just for Fun. To make a reservation simply call our office 512-266-9710 and let us know what type of boat you need and the times needed. A deposit to hold the boat may be required depending on the type of boat and if the rental is scheduled for a Holiday Weekend. Internet reservations are available through our website (www.jff.net). These reservations require payment in full at the time the reservation is made and all payments are subject to our deposit refund policy.

            Waverunner, Ski Boat and Pontoon Reservations (non-holiday):  Reservations for these boats are recommended, but not required. No deposit is required. Reservations are held for 15 minutes. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your reservation, your boat may be given away to a walk-up customer.

The standard holidays are Splash Day (First Sunday in May), Memorial Day Weekend (Friday through Monday), Fourth of July (may include surrounding days), Labor Day Weekend (Friday through Sunday). There may be special events on Lake Travis from time to time that will be treated as a holiday.

            Party Barge Reservations (non-holiday): Party Barge rentals always require a deposit to hold a reservation.  Most non-holiday reservations for party barges require a $140.00 deposit or pre-payment. This pre-payment is deducted from your total and the balance is due at the time of your rental. Larger deposits may be required on rentals over four hours. This deposit is subject to the terms of our deposit refund/cancellation policy.

            Party Barge Reservations (holiday): Holiday Party Barge reservations are required. These reservations require a 50% pre-payment of the reserved rental. This pre-payment is deducted from your total and the balance is due at the time of your rental. This deposit is subject to the terms of our deposit refund/cancellation policy.             Houseboat and Charter Boat Reservations: All houseboat and charter boat reservations require a 50% deposit or pre-payment of the reserved rental. The balance is due 30 days prior to departure. If reservation is made within 30 days of departure, full payment is required at the time of the reservation. These payments are subject to the following cancellation and refund policies: Cancellations received in writing or e-mail prior to 45 days from departure will be refunded less a $500.00 cancellation fee or the amount of deposit (whichever is smaller). Cancellations received within 45 days of departure will forfeit total pre-payment. Rescheduling is permitted prior to 21 days from departure subject to availability and must be used within the same calendar year. Rescheduling is subject to a $100.00 rescheduling fee. We regret we cannot make exceptions to this policy. There are no rebates for late arrivals or early returns.

Deposit Refund/ Cancellation Policy: We accept cash, checks and major credit cards for payment of deposit. Full refund will be given in the event of rain at our location at your scheduled time of departure. In the event of lake closure by government authority or conditions that we deem in our sole discretion to be unsafe a full refund will be given. Cancellations made in writing or by e-mail for any other reason prior to 7 days from departure will result in an in-store credit towards a future rental valid for one year. All other cancellations will result in the forfeit of any payment made. We regret we cannot make exceptions to this policy. There are no rebates for late arrivals or early returns.

Inclement Weather: The weather in central Texas can change at a moment’s notice. We make every effort to be knowledgeable and as up to date as possible on approaching weather. When boating, you should be observant for inclement weather by watching the approach of dark clouds and sudden and abrupt changes in wind. In the event of an early return due to rain, lightening or severe weather, we will issue a in-store credit for any portion of unused time valid for one year.

Damage and Damage Waiver: When renting a boat you are responsible for returning the boat in the same condition in which it was given to you. Unfortunately, accidents happen and damages will occur. While the most important thing is your safety, occasionally damages will occur to the rental boat. Fortunately, these damages can be fixed. Sometimes the damage is minor and sometimes it is severe, in both cases you will feel that it is expensive as that is the nature of boating. If it says “marine” on it, it is more expensive than you think. We must hold you responsible for these damages in order to keep the boats in appropriate shape for future use. Please keep in mind that when a boat is damaged, it’s not just as simple as replacing a part. In some cases, hundreds of people will have their plans spoiled because that boat is know out of service until repaired.

We make every effort to make this process as fair and easy as possible. We ask you to verify the condition of the propeller and verify the safety equipment before you depart. These are the most common problem areas: Propellers get broken or bent, life jackets missing, etc. ( see Prop Damage policy)  Other types of damage are handled on a case by case basis. We ask that you work with us to solve these unfortunate situations.

For your protection, we offer an optional damage waiver for $5.00 per hour. This covers any damage above $500.00. So, that means you would be responsible for the first $500.00 and we would take care of the rest. Please read the Damage Waiver document carefully as it is not valid if damage occurred as a result of violation of law.

Prop Damage Policy: Prop damage is the most common damage situation in boat rental. It happens to experienced and non-experienced boaters alike. Lake Travis is predominately limestone rock. If a moving propeller touches the bottom of the lake it will be damaged. There are rare occurrences where a submerged tree branch or floating debris can damage a prop as well. It is the operator’s responsibility to keep a good lookout for debris and also operate in sufficient water depth at all times.  At times, it is difficult to determine water depth and hazards that are unseen may exist.

Our procedure is to ask you to inspect each prop and actually touch it before you depart for your rental. Please take the time to do this and feel free to ask any questions if you are unclear of its condition. We want you to be assured that it was not damaged prior to your use. The propeller will then be re-inspected upon you return. Damaged propellers cannot just be “hammered” out and damaged propellers cannot be continued to be used on a boat. If the balance of the propeller is compromised in any way, serious damage will occur to the drive unit of the boat resulting in repair costs over $3,000.00.                                                                                                             

We operate with a two-level prop damage policy. Level One is when we consider the prop to be repairable. In this situation we would remove the propeller from the boat and replace it with a spare. The damaged propeller is then sent to a repair facility where new metal is welded to it and it is balance and returned to its original shape. We charge $100.00 for this level of damage. If the damage is more severe or Level Two we consider that prop un-repairable and you will be charged $185.00 for a new one. In the event we charge you for a new propeller, we will offer to give you the old one to assure you that they are not being repaired and reused.
